Jeff Koons' new dinner service collection for Bernardaud
If you collect contemporary art, then surely you are well versed with Jeff Koons' work. If you never heard of him, well, depending on the critic, Jeff Koons is either brilliant or kitsch. But whether you like him or not, he hold the record for the second most expensive living artist after Gerhard Richter. That's nothing to sneeze at for sure.
One can roughly divide Koon's work into many series. The earliest is the Pre-New, the New, and Equilibrium series, then Statuary series, then Luxury and Degradation series, then Made in Heaven series, then Banality series, then Puppy series, then Celebration series, then Popeye and Hulk Elvis series, then Antiquity series, and most recently Easyfun series.
Bernardaud celebrating its 150 year anniversary decided to commission various artists to design dinnerware for them. One of them is Jeff Koons. Jeff decided to revive images from the Banality series for Bernardaud. You can buy from dinner plates, to coffee cups and everything in between from Bernardaud's website. Talk about high art for the dinner! This dinner service bound to strike up conversations for years to come.
