The Bay Lights

I knew about this project for awhile but I finally saw it in person last week.  It's a beauty.  Yes, I'll admit that it's kinda useless in terms of being practical.  But isn't all art that way?  We don't need art to breath and we certainly can't eat it when we are hungry.  However, art fulfills us on a different level.  Just by looking at these LED lights flashing on the bay bridge made me happy.  Yes, I use the word happy because it brought some joy into my life and made me smile.  While not all art makes one smile but powerful art should invoke some kind of emotions be it sad, surprise, angry, etc.  In this case, the Bay Lights made me happy.  At the end of the day, I just want to smile a little and I'm glad the Bay Lights was able to bring a little bit of joy into my life.
