de Gournay's Fishes

I rarely ever use wallpaper in my projects but when I do, de Gournay is the choice.  I specifically love the fishes wallpaper.  I love the silver gilded paper that shimmers in light.  It's stunning in person.

The company, base in Kent, England, was founded by Claud Gurney.  One would think he has some kind of arts degree but he actually has a master's degree in Economics from University of Chicago.  He was doing a Chinese room in his London home.  The design bug bit him and out came de Gournay wallpaper.

Every single sheet of wallpaper is hand painted and adjusted to clients need (ie. If you don't like that butterfly there?   Gone.  If you want more bamboo trees over here?  Done).  It takes about eight to ten weeks for the delivery of custom production.  Because everything is custom and hand painted, one can imagine the price tag is not for the faint of heart.  The good thing is one can remove the wallpaper by steaming it and reuse them somewhere else.
