HL23

Finally. Finally Mr Neil M. Denari has his first free standing building built at last!  Gone are the days of additions and interior renovations.  You would think someone of his resume, he was director of the Southern California Institute of Architecture, would have many buildings built by now.

This condo building, next to High Line, is one of the more difficult site for any architect to design building around with.  Not only was the footprint small, almost 2/3 of it was tucked under the now famous High Line, Mr Denari also had to deal with Manhattan zoning issues.  But, alas, he was able to come up with something brilliant.  Essentially the building footprint contract and expand  according to the constraints of the site and zoning code.  There's no doubt in my mind that we will see more of Mr. Denari's building popping up everywhere... perhaps close to his office in Los Angeles!?
